Clinton-Dix, Adams looking to make Year 2 leap with Green Bay Packers
Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and wide receiver Davante Adams captured starting roles as rookies, after the Green Bay Packers selected them with their first- and second-round picks, respectively, in the 2014 NFL draft. Now, with a higher degree of comfort as professionals, Clinton-Dix and Adams could be capable of so much more as sophomores.
Clinton-Dix described the feeling of familiarity in a defensive scheme to Tyler Dunne of the Journal Sentinel.
"You feel a lot more free," Clinton-Dix told the Journal Sentinel. "You feel a lot more comfortable. You don't have to think as much. You can just go out and play fast....People rely on you to make the call. Be comfortable with it. Go with it."
Clinton-Dix started 10 games in 2014. Adams started 11, catching 38 passes for 446 yards and three touchdowns. Like the second-year safety, the receiver is nearly acclimated to the speed of the professional game.
Packers wide receivers coach Alex Van Pelt has noticed a difference in Adams since he first reported to Green Bay, according to the Journal Sentinel.
"Now, he just needs to take that next step and clean everything up," Van Pelt said about Adams' progress, per the Journal Sentinel. "Attention to detail, some technique things that we've worked on, that we identified from last year. But very excited about where he is and where he's going."
For the 2014 draft class to be a complete success, Clinton-Dix and Adams must continue their current ascent. In addition, other picks, such as defensive lineman Khyri Thornton and linebacker Carl Bradford, must make an impact moving forward.
