Chargers' Taylor carted off field with knee injury

Published Dec. 23, 2012 8:59 p.m. ET

San Diego Chargers rookie safety Brandon Taylor was carted off the field in the third quarter of the team's game against the New York Jets with a knee injury.

After New York's Shonn Greene was stopped for no gain with 45 seconds left in the quarter, Taylor went down as Chargers trainers ran out to tend to him. It appeared that Taylor's right knee was being examined as the rookie from LSU held his facemask in pain.

Taylor was carted to the locker room a few minutes later. The Chargers announced the third-round pick would not return to the game.

Jets wide receiver Chaz Schilens injured a knee after a 24-yard catch early in the fourth quarter and was questionable to return as trainers examined him on the sideline.
