Bills QB Tyrod Taylor wrecked his car three hours before career-best game
Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor had himself a day against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, despite the fact that his team lost. He threw for a career-high 329 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding 60 yards on the ground.
His 389 yards from scrimmage were the third-most in Bills history, while he was also the first player this season to have at least 300 passing yards and 60 rushing yards in a game. His fantastic day didn’t start out so well, though.
Just three hours before the game, Taylor was involved in a car accident while on his way to the stadium. It occurred downtown, but he was rescued by the team as they sent a car to pick him up from the scene.
"Stats aside, yes, it was a good day," Taylor said, via New York Upstate. "But like I said from day one, wins and losses is what you take into account as a quarterback, and today goes into the loss category and I'm not happy about that. The fact that my car got wrecked this morning in an accident doesn't help."
Taylor came away unscathed and uninjured as it was just a minor accident. However, crashing your car – a Mercedes G63 SVU, nonetheless – is never a fun thing to deal with. He reportedly wasn’t at fault in the crash.
As for the football side of his day, it should help his bargaining power when it comes to his next contract. The Bills have an option they can pick up in the offseason which would guarantee him more $30 million going forward.
"Those talks are out of my hands," Taylor said. "All I can do is go out there and play football, and that's what I'm going to continue to keep doing. That decision doesn't need talking about. I'm just going to do what I keep doing. All I can do is go out there and play and I'm just going to continue to play."
