Bills LB Nigel Bradham on expiring contract: 'I really hope I'm back'

Like every other team in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills will have a handful of decisions to make with regards to impending free agents currently on the roster. Fortunately, their core offensive players are under contract, but several defenders may get the chance to test the market.

Linebacker Nigel Bradham is one of those players, but he doesn't sound interested in playing for another team.

“I really hope I’m back,” Bradham said. “Obviously this is where I was drafted and the opportunity to be in this league came from here and this is where it started. I’d like to finish it.”

Bradham finished fifth on the team with 59 tackles despite missing five games this season. A year ago, he made 14 starts and made a career-high 104 tackles with six passes defensed. Despite the Bills' struggles on defense, Bradham was one of the few bright spots. He hopes to be around in 2016 to help change the narrative of being a bad defense.

“Honestly, I think that it’s going to be an interesting thing for me because I mean it’s just something to look forward to, seeing where you’re going to be,” he said. “Hopefully I’m still here, but if not, I mean, it’s just one of those opportunities where you got a great chance to go out there and make a name for yourself.”

What makes him an appealing candidate for a contract extension is his experience in Ryan's scheme after getting one season under his belt, and his age. He's only 26 years old and has missed just seven games in four seasons. The Bills are cap-strapped, but making room for Bradham should be a priority.
