Arian Foster hangs out with an astrophysicist

Published Jun. 18, 2015 11:46 p.m. ET

If you needed more evidence that Houston Texans running back Arian Foster isn't your typical NFL player, on Wednesday, Foster got the chance to meet a man he called "one of my favorite people walking the planet," famed astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson. Yes, the NFL star is apparently a science buff.

Foster, the Texans' Pro Bowl running back attended Tyson's sold-out lecture Wednesday night in Houston. According to the Texans' official website, Tyson was in town speaking about "his views on space and the exploration of our planet and the universe." Tyson recently hosted the FOX 2014 television series ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,' of which Foster was a fan.

The 28-year-old Foster, who the Sporting News once called "the most interesting man in the NFL," has previously expressed his interest in poetry and has dabbled in acting. He also became a vegan for a period of time before giving it up.
