The Lakers expect Kobe Bryant to play against the Raptors

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is expected to play against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night at Staples Center, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

“I’m going to stick to where it’s been about, at that early 30 minute-type minutes, late 20’s,” Lakers coach Byron Scott said. “It depends on the situation. I’m happy where his minutes are right now.”

Bryant, who is averaging 30.4 minutes per game this season, sat out Monday's loss to the Phoenix Suns after playing a season-high 37 minutes in a win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

Bryant completed a shooting workout Thursday, but Scott said he held him out of the portion of practice that includes three-on-three and five-on-five drills. Instead, the 37-year-old rested, iced his body and received massage therapy.

“He said he felt really good and his legs feel real good,” Scott said of Bryant. “I didn’t want to mess that up by saying, ‘Let’s go through the practice we’re doing today.”
