Sure the Jazz stink, but Hayward can still make waves on Christmas

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 4:21 p.m. ET

In the sports world, Christmas belongs to the NBA — specifically, the biggest stars and the biggest teams.

So how on earth did a guy averaging 16 for the worst team in the Western Conference steal the limelight from LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard? By doing this:

That's Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward and new fiancée Robyn Van Vliet. Van Vliet posted the same photo to her Instagram account, with the following caption:

According to her Facebook page, Van Vliet graduated from a high school in Indiana in 2013 and listed herself as "In a Relationship" on Sept. 8.

Upstaging superstars is nothing new for the 23-year-old Hayward; he was the best player on the 2009-10 Butler team that made a stunning run to the NCAA championship game, his half-court, buzzer-beating attempt bouncing off the rim as time expired; had it gone in the Bulldogs would have beaten Duke and Mike Krzyzewski for the championship.
