Sacramento to give 'Big O' key to city

Oscar Robertson, one of the NBA's all-time great players, will be presented with a key to the city of Sacramento, Calif., on Friday.

The 73-year-old Hall of Famer, who played 12 seasons with the Cincinnati Royals (a franchise that later moved to Kansas City and then Sacramento), will be handed the key by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, the Sacramento Bee reported Thursday.

During his 1961-62 season with the Royals, Robertson became the only NBA player ever to average a triple-double for a season with 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game.

Robertson, who played 14 NBA seasons with the Royals and Milwaukee Bucks, has had his No. 14 jersey retired by the Kings. The team will honor the "Big O" on the 50th anniversary of his famous season at their home game Friday night.
