Report: 'Melo in 'good state' with Nuggets

Published Nov. 8, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

The trade winds surrounding All-Star small forward Carmelo Anthony have died down a bit thanks in part to a good start to the season by the Denver Nuggets, the New York Post reported Monday.

Anthony had 32 points and eight rebounds in the Nuggets' narrow 94-92 loss to the Chicago Bulls Monday that put the team at 4-3.

When asked if he could see himself staying in Denver beyond February’s trade deadline, he told the Denver Post: “Sure, why not? I don’t see why not.”

The New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks are two of the teams hoping to land Anthony in a potential trade, but the Nuggets are more likely to keep him if the team has any chance to win a title.

The Knicks could be better off in this scenario and the best chance could be with signing him as a free agent in the offseason.

“I want the team to do well, that’s why I go out there and do what I do — get everybody on the same page so we can win games,” Anthony said, although admitting his attitude would be "totally different" if the Nuggets had gotten off to a poor start.

“I’m in a good state right now,” he said.
