Reflecting on Karl-Anthony Towns' summer league experience

Karl-Anthony Towns entered Las Vegas with a ton of hype and mountains of expectations. Did he surpass them all? Maybe, which is about as flattering a thing as can be said about a 19-year-old who people expect the world of.

Here's more on how he performed, according to SB Nation's Timberwolves blog Canis Hoopus:

Over the five games, Towns averaged just over 31 minutes on the floor. During that time, he averaged a solid 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Towns also notched double-doubles against Portland and Utah...However, we all have seen stories of the No.1-pick-gone-bad, and there is never a guarantee of a fluid transition from college ball to the pros. By all accounts thus far, however, Towns seems like the real deal. His offense is obviously an asset, but what stands out the most as an immediate need for Minnesota is his tenacity and ability to control the pace on defense."

Towns is expected to make a dozen All-Star teams and be one of the best players in franchise history. No big deal. But so far he looks well on his way to becoming the player many expect him to be.
