With opening day upon us and a free t-shirt giveaway for the home opener, I ranked the remaining promotional games currently scheduled by the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Memphis Grizzlies have currently announced 18 promotional home games for the 2016-17 season. The items vary greatly, as do the amounts given away, so be sure to arrive early to snatch up all the Memphis Grizzlies’ swag. Here’s my ranking of the 17 remaining games (excluding tonight’s home opener).

No. 17

Dec. 20 vs. Boston Memphis Grizzlies Holiday Wrapping Paper to first 5,000 fans in attendance presented by Mercury Printing

Wrapping paper? Really? I mean, it’s nice of them to give something out, but if your presents aren’t wrapped by the 20th, you are seriously slacking. Plus, this doesn’t do a lot for those who don’t celebrate Christmas, unless they have a Grizz fan birthday coming up soon.

No. 16

Dec. 3 vs. L.A. Lakers 2016-17 Grizz Girls Poster to first 5,000 fans in attendance presented by Horseshoe Casino and Mercury Printing

Grizz Girls poster is a solid giveaway, but you’re excluding many of your female fans. I doubt they will hold onto the Grizz Girls poster, but at least they can gift it to someone. Maybe it’s a good way to get young potential fans interested in the team.

No. 15

Oct. 30 vs. Washington 2016-17 Memphis Grizzlies Magnet Schedule to all fans in attendance

I only rank this low because how many people use a magnet to keep track of an 82 game schedule? Yes, you can hang some sweet drawings up on your fridge, but that’s about the only usefulness of this promo.

No. 14

March 31 vs. Dallas KFC Game Night

This ranks here because I love fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy.

No. 13

April 12 vs. Dallas Grizzlies Poster to all fans in attendance

Now we’re starting to see some improvement in the giveaways, though a poster can be really hit or miss. Let’s hope it’s something awesome which shows off the whole team. The best part of this promo is you cannot miss out as long as you attend!

No. 12

Feb. 6 vs. San Antonio National Civil Rights Museum Pride Scarf to the first 3,000 fans in attendance

Finally, something cool! Scarves are always a nice addition to an outfit and these carry some extra meaning. I totally expect this to be one of the games that the Grizzlies rock their awesome new MLK alternate jerseys.

No. 11

Nov. 4 vs. L.A. Clippers Grizzlies Water Bottle to first 5,000 fans in attendance presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee

Stay hydrated with a Memphis Grizzlies water bottle! This is the promo that keeps on giving. Who doesn’t love some ice-cold water? Plus, 5,000 available means you should have a good chance at snagging one.

No. 10

Nov. 19 vs. Minnesota Memphis Grizzlies Phone Wallet to first 10,000 fans in attendance presented by Pinnacle Financial Partners

Phone wallet? Neat! Now you can have your phone and money stolen all in one swipe! Jokes aside, this is a pretty unique giveaway and though I’m sure most will not convert away from their current phone case and wallet, it’s still a cool piece of memorabilia to have.

No. 9

April 7 vs. New York Memphis Escape Rooms Mystery Game

Oh! A mystery game? Not many details have been released for this, but escape rooms have been gaining popularity and make for a fun family event, especially if the Memphis Grizzlies give away tickets for free.

No. 8

Dec. 23 vs. Houston Grind City Basketball to first 5,000 fans in attendance

Free basketballs are always cool.  Hopefully they are regulation size and not those mini ones, though. If they’re mini, have some fun and chuck them around your office! You’re sure to gain some new friends!

No. 7

Nov. 25 vs. Miami Fizz Glasses to first 5,000 fans in attendance

Free Fizzdale glasses! Sign me up! I wish this promo was for everyone in attendance because a camera panning around the stadium showing everyone wearing spectacles would be well….a spectacle.

No. 6

March 18 vs. San Antonio Z-Bo Wrestling Buddy to the first 4,000 fans in attendance

I had to Google what a Wrestling Buddy was and I’m pretty happy with this. A Z-Bo designed one will be pretty cool and something nice for the kids. However, I wish it was more like what I had originally thought, which was similar to Boppo.

No. 5

Dec. 29 vs. Oklahoma City Grizzlies Rally Flag to first 10,000 fans in attendance presented by FOX Sports Southeast

Rally flags are an awesome giveaway. All 10,000 fans should be waiving these throughout the game. Hopefully there will be a rally monkey making an appearance.

March 9 vs. L.A. Clippers Mike Conley Socks to first 4,000 fans in attendance

Mike Conley socks is something everyone should try and get. Stylized socks are huge right now, which makes me wonder: Wouldn’t this promo have been perfect for Chandler Parsons instead? Either way, make sure to get a pair of these sweet foot warmers.

No. 3

Jan. 21 vs. Houston Chandler Parsons Yoga Mat to first 3,000 fans in attendance presented by Methodist Healthcare

Speaking of Chandler, you can get a sweet yoga mat. You can join James Harden on the floor during this game and work on your downward dog. Maybe with the help of this mat, you can join the ranks of yoga master Charles Barkley.

No. 2

March 11 vs. Atlanta Marc Gasol Grill Set to the first 4,000 fans in attendance

A Marc Gasol grill set. Hmmm. I don’t know how the PR team managed to think this one up, but I love it. What better way to cook up some sweet Memphis barbeque then with Marc himself? Only 4,000 of these babies will be given away, so be ready!

No. 1

April 9 vs. Detroit Tony Allen Pepper Grinder to first 4,000 fans in attendance

Wow. What a combo. Tony Allen and pepper. One’s a great wing defender, the other is a staple seasoning dispenser. The Memphis Grizzlies’ are taking the “Grind” out of “Grit N’ Grind” literally with these Tony Allen pepper grinders. These will be perfect as a conversation piece on your kitchen table so please go get them. Maybe next year we can get a Wade Baldwin salt shaker to complete the set.
