No structural damage in John Wall's knee after scary collision
John Wall exited Sunday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks after his knee collided with Jeremy Evans late in the fourth quarter. What appeared to be a serious blow for the already-reeling Washington Wizards may not be as bad as it first looked, per The Washington Post:
Wall is questionable for today's game against the Miami Heat, which, relatively speaking, is tremendous news, even though the All-Star point guard is having a disappointing season as he tries to fit his game into the Wizards' new uptempo system.
“I tried to take a step to go contest, and I didn’t have the strength and I just stopped,” said Wall, who said that the right knee was already bruised before the injury. Wall said the knee was sore, but an X-ray did not reveal any structural damage and he was walking on his own after the game with a slight limp. He is traveling with the team to Miami and will be reevaluated Monday.
His assists and field goal percentage are down from last year, and his turnovers are way up. But Wall is still Washington's best all-around player, and it's tough to picture them going into Miami and scoring without his speed.
