New York Knicks Offer Look At Hardwood Classic Jerseys

The New York Knicks will introduce a throwback jersey in 2016-17. The organization’s official Twitter account offered a look at the uniforms.
The New York Knicks are one of the NBA’s original organizations. Of the eight teams that debuted with the BAA in 1946-47, only the Knicks and Boston Celtics have lasted until the present day.
In honor of the Knicks’ extensive history in the NBA and BAA, the Knicks will wear a Hardwood Classic jersey in 2016-17.
70 years since New York debuted as a professional basketball organization, the Knicks will honor the pioneers. The trim is that of the 1946-47 squad, albeit with modern adjustments such as knee-length shorts and the absence of a belt buckle.
The Knicks offered an exclusive look at the hardwood classic jerseys via the team’s official Twitter account.

Those jerseys are a thing of basketball beauty.
The Knicks will wear the Hardwood Classic jerseys in a total of eight games in 2016-17. The first time New York will break the retro look out will be on Wednesday, November 2, when it hosts the Houston Rockets at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks will do so again on Saturday, November 12 when they travel to play the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre.
The Knicks will wear the uniforms in home games against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, December 7; the Charlotte Hornets on Friday, January 27; the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, February 6; the Miami Heat on Wednesday, March 29; and the Boston Celtics on Sunday, April 2.
New York will wear the Hardwood Classics for a second road game against the Raptors on Sunday, January 15.
For what it’s worth, the Knickerbockers won 55.0 percent of their games in 1946-47—a number that would translate to 45 wins with an 82-game schedule. New York also reached the semifinals in the 1947 BAA Playoffs.
If New York can win 45 games and reach the Conference Finals—the equivalent of the overall semifinals—2016-17 would be an emphatic success.
Here’s hoping the Knicks can throw it back to a previous generation in 2016-17.
