Monty Williams says he feels bad for Scott Brooks

Published Apr. 23, 2015 1:28 p.m. ET

Pelicans head coach Monty Williams was on the hot seat for much of this season, and if his team didn't make the playoffs, he would've lost his job. Ironically, the team New Orleans edged out for the eight seed just let their head coach go.

The Thunder fired Scott Brooks yesterday, and Williams knows it could easily have been him looking for a new job. From The Time-Picayune's John Reid:

''I just heard, it's really tough,'' Williams said. ''Scott is a really good coach. Anytime one of your colleagues goes down like that, you feel bad for he and his family. Just a tough situation, that's all I want to say right now.''

The lesson, as always: Life as an NBA head coach is borderline impossible...unless you're Gregg Popovich.
