Magic's Carter has mild separation in shoulder

Published Jan. 9, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Vince Carter says he has a "mild separation'' in his left shoulder but doesn't expect to miss much time for the Orlando Magic.

Carter was out of the lineup against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. He is day to day.

Carter says his shoulder is mostly sore and hopes to be back as soon as Tuesday, when Orlando begins a four-game West Coast trip at Sacramento. He says trainers told him the injury does not require surgery.

Carter, in the midst of a difficult shooting slump, was injured in a collision with Andray Blatche in the second quarter of the Magic's 104-97 loss at Washington on Friday night.
