LOOK: Michael Jordan gave Spike Lee gold shoes to go with his Oscar

More than 25 years after the release of "Do The Right Thing," noted director (and NBA fan) Spike Lee is set to receive an honorary Oscar at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science's Governor Awards on Nov. 14. And to mark the occasion, Lee was gifted a pair of special sneakers that will match his gold statue.

Lee posted an Instagram photo on Friday of his new golden Jordan 6s, and they're pretty spectacular:

The link between Lee and Jordan runs deep, of course. Lee has his own line of Jordan sneakers, and the Jordan 6 was one of the early Jordan models for which Lee did a classic "Mars Blackmon" commercial -- featuring Little Richard as a wish-granting genie, because why not?
