LeBron creates own website
In a new Nike ad that’s part apology and part retort to would-be haters, LeBron James asks, “What should I do?”
Turns out one answer is to launch his own website.
With today’s tipoff of an NBA season that will rotate in large part around LeBron’s move to Miami, the two-time NBA most valuable player has added www.lebronjames.com to his arsenal of outreach.
The site went live during the Heat's regular-season opener against the Boston Celtics.
“This season is a new start and it will be a growing and learning experience for me,” James told FOXSports.com. “Lebronjames.com will allow my fans to be a part of my journey in a fun and empowering way.”
If the site is anything like his Twitter account – where he’s released racist tweets sent his way, announced he’s collecting a list of those attacking him and offered up 140-character poems about perseverance – this should be interesting.
Since his explanation, James has been hated, ridiculed, watched, celebrated and judged. He’s hoping the website will help him connect with fans.
“The goal of LeBronjames.com is to empower my fans,” James said. “I wanted to do something fun and creative to show another side of me and to help others lead healthier and more active lifestyles.”
It’s also a chance for a player who has made no secret of his distaste for his critics to reach out directly to the public.
“The site is another way to share my world with my fans,” he said. “The best way to connect with others is to let them see things from your own point of view. Showing my fans how I train, eat, and stay focused will help bring my fans closer to the NBA experience.”
