Kevin Durant's moving MVP speech re-told by people of Oklahoma City

Published Apr. 10, 2015 1:26 p.m. ET

Kevin Durant reinvented the MVP acceptance speech on May 6, 2014, in a moving tribute to his fans, his teammates, and the real MVP, his mother. We're now approaching the one-year anniversary of that awesome moment. Durant won't grace us with a repeat performance, or even dazzle us with the outstanding basketball in the playoffs we're so used to, but that doesn't mean we can't experience once again the moving words.

As much as Durant says Oklahoma City's fans have been an inspiration to him, he has just as much been an inspiration and example to the people of Oklahoma City. Part of what made KD's speech so powerful was how convincingly he described his struggle and hard work to get to where he is today. That's a pursuit we can all relate to.

And that's what makes this video re-telling of "The Speech" just so emotional.

It's safe to say Thunder fans have Kevin Durant's back on and off the court.
