Johnson says joining Boston Celtics was 'a no-brainer'

Amir Johnson's decision to sign with the Boston Celtics earlier this month was made easy by the fact that Danny Ainge contacted him early in the process and was willing to offer a contract that allows him to maximize his financial gain going forward.

Leaving Toronto probably wasn't the easiest decision in the world, but the Celtics were convincing in their pitch. Here's more on what Johnson had to say about coming to Boston, per CBS Boston's Brian Robb:

"They respect the type of player I am. And they gave me a number and it was a no-brainer from there. They made it clear cut. My decision, I decided in like 14 hours. It was pretty much a no-brainer just the team that really wanted me. I had no idea because the top teams that wanted me and Boston wasn’t in there, they called me out of the blue and just said how much they appreciated me.”

If healthy, Johnson will be a fantastic starting center for Boston next season. When he's surrounded by shooters, the Celtics will finally have the balance and rim protection they need to stay competitive on both ends of the floor.

It's a great signing for both sides.
