Jazz F Howard out with strained calf

Published Jan. 15, 2012 7:38 p.m. ET

Utah Jazz forward Josh Howard will not play Sunday night against the Denver Nuggets because of a strained left calf muscle.

Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said the injury flared up sometime Sunday and did not occur during Utah's win over New Jersey on Saturday night. Howard had four points and four rebounds in 18 minutes against the Nets.

Howard has come off the bench in all 11 games for the Jazz this season. He is averaging 10.7 points in his first year with Utah.
