Inside NIKEiD Loft, where designers help you create custom sneakers
TORONTO -- Nike Basketball had a lot going on during All-Star weekend in Toronto, including a sneaker store inside a moving train where you could cop some of the brand's more coveted recent releases. But the most personalized experience was available at the NIKEiD Loft, where designers were on hand to help you design your very own pair of custom kicks.
The signature models for LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant were available for customization as always, but there were brand new color schemes and color-shift material options that were put into place to celebrate the All-Star festivities. And Nike looked back to some of their best previous designs for the inspiration of what the new patterns and colors should look like this year.
Spending time on the NIKEiD site can be overwhelming, simply because there are so many different options of color combinations and patterns to choose from. What made this space so special was the fact that designers would walk you through the process, and offer up helpful suggestions and advice while you customized a pair yourself.
There were also plenty of iD pairs there to check out in person that featured many of the unique looks that you'd normally only be able to see on the site.
The space was only open during All-Star weekend, and the color-shift options appear to have been only available for that brief time period, as well. We'd definitely like to see this concept return at some point in the future, because while the customization options are incredible, things are taken to a whole new level when you have a professional helping you go through the process.
