Holiday considering surgery on lower right leg
Thanks to a serious leg injury that limited him to just 40 games during the regular season, Jrue Holiday wasn't as effective in the first round as New Orleans originally envisioned he'd be after trading a lottery pick for his service two years ago.
In order to prevent another injury from hampering him in the future, the Pelicans point guard says he plans on having a screw removed from his right leg this offseason.
From The Time-Picayune's John Reid:
"He returned to play in three of the final four games of the regular season. However, Holiday was under a minutes restriction by team doctors to not go beyond playing more than 15 minutes per game. 'I have one screw and I want to get that out but they don't have to,' Holiday said Sunday. 'I don't think (screw) is necessary anymore. They put the screw in to hold the rod. It's just a little procedure where I'll get the screw out.'''
Nothing is set in stone right now, and Holiday should do whatever he can to make sure he's as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Only 24 years old, the one-time All-Star is one of the league's best two-way point guards when operating at full strength.
And that's exactly where the Pelicans need him to be if they're to have an even more successful season in 2016.
