Grizzlies, Thunder, Mavericks all reportedly interested in Mike Miller

Published Jul. 28, 2015 7:43 a.m. ET

Mike Miller has been known throughout his 15-year NBA career as one of the league's sharpshooters, but spent last season at the end of the Cavaliers bench, and finished the year shooting a career-worst 32.7 percent from three-point distance.

All of that combined made him expendable, so the Cavaliers packaged him in a trade with Brendan Haywood simply to gain some salary cap space.

Miller is expected to be waived, and will then become an unrestricted free agent. Despite last season's less-than-desirable results, the Grizzlies, Thunder and Mavericks have all expressed interest, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Grizzlies make some sense, considering their desperate need for three-point shooting, as well as the fact that Miller performed well for them during the 2014 season. The Thunder are trying to contend for a title, so, much like the Cavaliers last season, they'd like to add as many productive veterans to the bench as possible. And the Mavericks, of course, are always willing to take a risk on guys, just in case they still have something left.

Miller might catch on with someone, but probably not until after the season begins. Memphis and Dallas both have all 15 roster spots filled at the moment, and Oklahoma City is expected to be in the same situation very soon.
