Pau Gasol played against his brother Marc Gasol in Wednesday's contest between the Bulls and the Grizzlies, but they teamed up on one very important cause.

The pair hosted a cancer patient from Spain, in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish foundation and the NBA Cares Season of Giving.

The NBA is filled with charitable players who are truly interested in making a difference. Earlier this week, LeBron James made a spontaneous gesture to a Special Olympics athlete in Boston who was born with severe brain damage.

"It’s one of the biggest gifts and rewards that you can have as a human – the power to influence people in a positive way, inspire others and share your energy and excitement with others,” Pau said.

The Ruiz family met Pau after Wednesday’s morning shootaround and got a tour of the Bulls’ facilities. They will spend time with the Gasol brothers after the game.

“This is my special mission in my life. That’s why I love doing it,” Pau said. “Sometimes, it’s hard and emotional and very difficult to digest because of the situations that families and children are going through. At the same time, the impact is very powerful. It’s it in me and I need to continue to do it.”
