Fort Wayne Mad Ants Come Up Short Against Long Island Nets

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:16 p.m. ET

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants picked up their third loss of the season and fell to second in the NBA Development League’s Central division.

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Long Island Nets were neck-and-neck through three quarters, but five more points in the final one proved enough to separate the two.

Unfortunately for Fort Wayne, they were on the wrong end of the scoreboard when the final buzzer sounded, losing 118-113 to Long Island.

The loss drops the Mad Ants to second in the Central Division with a 9-3 record, behind the Raptors 905.

On the bright side of things Alex Poythress continues to impress as he dropped 32 points on a solid 15 of 22 shooting. He picked up the double-double thanks to grabbing 11 rebounds.

Top prospect Travis Leslie posted 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss while shooting 9 of 18 from the field.

Occasional Indiana Pacers big man Rakeem Christmas had 10 points and 4 rebounds as he struggled to find his shot during a 4 of 12 performance.

The Mad Ants are in action again as they face the Greensboro Swarm in the friendly confines of Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
