Dennis Schroder's rise continues with NBA 2K16 cover in Germany

Dennis Schroder isn't the first name that pops into your head when thinking of German basketball — that would be Dirk Nowitzki, of course — and he might not even be the second or third name (shout out to Detlef Schrempf and Chris Kaman).

But Schroder is the future of German hoops, and a player on the rise in the NBA.

The 21-year-old point guard stepped in for Jeff Teague and closed dozens of games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, and has flashed a ton of promise in his two seasons with the team. He may never be a star in the traditional sense, but he certainly has the potential to break out the way Eric Bledsoe and Reggie Jackson have in recent seasons.

Yet Schroder can now lay claim to something few NBA players can: He's going to be on the cover of an NBA video game.

Not just any video game, mind you, but NBA 2K16. Schroder has been selected for the cover of NBA 2K16 in Germany, 2K Deutschland announced on Wednesday.

Schroder was ecstatic with the announcement, tweeting:
