Celtics owner needs 'transformative' deal to surrender Nets' pick

The Boston Celtics are in a wonderful position where they don't have to worry about their own performance so far as it relates to this year's NBA lottery. They own Brooklyn's pick, and Brooklyn isn't a good basketball team.
But with so many young players already onboard, there's a chance the Celtics trade their valuable asset for a proven star, should one become available. And it sounds like that's the scenario their owner, Wyc Grousbeck, hopes for.
Here's what he recently said during a radio interview in Boston, per MassLive:
This basically means that pick is gone should any star hit the market. Presumably, that means DeMarcus Cousins or even Carmelo Anthony, though the latter feels unlikely.
"If we could do something transformative in February (at the trade deadline) or June (near draft time) that would speed it up, I'm all for that."
