Carlisle gets a T, then tossed when he taunts ref with mock applause

Back in the day when Don Nelson coached the Dallas Mavericks, he might decide that an ejection and a cold beer was a better way to spend the rest of the evening than watching his team on one of those games it was getting pummeled.

That might have been Rick Carlisle's thinking Sunday when he got the hook less than a minute into the fourth quarter and the Mavs trailing the suffocating San Antonio Spurs, 78-56. Dallas led 31-29 and then it all went downhill from there in the eventual 112-83 loss.

The ejection came following a foul called on Mavs guard J.J. Barea as he tried to stay with Spurs guard Patty Mills around the screen of forward David West. Carlisle was livid at the call, clearly believing that West committed the foul by lowering his shoulder into Barea, causing the collision.

Carlisle came onto the court to argue and was hit with a technical from referee Sean Corbin. Then Carlisle became infuriated and stomped in Corbin's direction all the way near midcourt while emphatically clapping his hands in mock applause. Immediately, Corbin nailed Carlisle with a second technical and ejection to the delight of the San Antonio crowd.

This one just might have been more palatable to digest from the locker room.
