Kobe Bryant has been scratched from the lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers' game at New Orleans on Monday night because of the left shin injury that also sidelined him two nights earlier.

Lakers coach Mike Brown says Bryant's injury requires rest and it is not yet clear whether the Lakers star will return when Los Angeles plays Wednesday night at San Antonio.

Bryant saw his streak of 138 consecutive games played end last Saturday night in Phoenix, when the Lakers lost their second straight game.

Bryant leads the NBA in scoring at 28.1 points per game.

Devin Ebanks started at shooting guard in place of Bryant against the Hornets. It was Ebanks' fifth start of the season.
