Ryan Truex medically cleared to compete at Bristol

NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie Ryan Truex has been medically cleared to compete this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway after suffering a concussion last weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

Truex sat out last weekend's Pure Michigan 400, after wrecking his car during Sprint Cup Series practice last Saturday.

Racing at speeds over 200 mph, Truex lost control of the No. 83 Toyota exiting Turn 2 and hit the wall head on. Truex was able to walk away from the incident under his own power, but was transported to a local hospital for shoulder pain and a headache.

He was later diagnosed with a concussion, while BK Racing put JJ Yeley drove the No. 83 Toyota to a 30th-place finish.

Truex has two Sprint Cup Series start at Bristol, finishing 42nd earlier this year, while he finished 18th in his debut at the 0.533-mile track in 2013.
