Longtime motorsports announcer Paul Page will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network as its lead announcer next season.

Page served as the network's anchor voice from 1977 to 1987, taking over after the death of Sid Collins. He will anchor the network's coverage of all IndyCar races next season, including the marquee event, the Indianapolis 500.

In a statement, Page called the speedway his ''first love'' and said the best racing is in the IndyCar series.

Over the years, Page has called the fourth Indy 500 victories of A.J. Foyt in 1977 and Al Unser in 1987, Gordon Johncock's Indy triumph in 1982 after a thrilling late-race duel with Rick Mears, and Danny Sullivan's ''spin and win'' in 1985.
