Labonte officially to drive second Phoenix Racing entry at Daytona

Phoenix Racing confirmed Tuesday that Bobby Labonte will drive a second NASCAR Sprint Cup entry in select races this season. Labonte will drive a second car for the team for the Daytona 500 race weekend.

Labonte drove 13 races in the organization’s No. 09 in 2010 and one race for the organization in 2013, in the organization’s primary No. 51 entry.

"I am grateful and excited to return to Daytona with Phoenix Racing," Labonte said. "The Daytona 500 is obviously a special event for everyone involved in the sport. I can't wait to get back in the car for my 22nd Daytona 500."

Labonte has 21 career Cup wins.

According to a release, the team will announce Labonte’s car number, crew chief and sponsors at a later time.
