Kenseth starts with a bang after lackluster '08

Published Feb. 20, 2009 2:34 a.m. ET

As Daytona 500 finishes go, Sunday's ranks slightly behind the great Richard Petty-David Pearson last-lap wreck in 1976, more on the level of the less-than-classic 2003 scene of Michael and Buffy Waltrip sitting on the pit wall rooting for it to keep raining.

But Matt Kenseth will take it, thank you very much.

By passing Elliott Sadler seven laps before the red flag waved at Daytona International Speedway, Kenseth put a winless year behind him and scored the biggest victory of his career in his No. 17 Ford.
