The World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals will be honored by President Barack Obama at the White House on Jan. 17.

Prior to the event, the team is scheduled to visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The Cardinals clinched the NL wild card spot on the final day of the season and then upset the Phillies, Brewers and Rangers to win their second title in five years.
