Bullpen coach Eddie Guardado is a beloved member of the Minnesota Twins fraternity, thanks to his days serving as the team’s closer, a role in which he was referred to as “Everyday Eddie.”

Well, it isn’t every day that Guardado gets the living daylights scared out of him, but that’s exactly what occurred following the team’s 13-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday, when he was set up in a very amusing locker room prank.

Twins closer Glen Perkins posted video of the sophomoric yet effective prank which consisted of a player — it’s believed to be pitcher Brian Duensing, who allegedly devised the scary scheme — hiding in Guardado’s locker and sounding one of those air horn thingamajigs upon the pitching coach approaching his stall.

It’s safe to say Guardado was summarily spooked.

Well played. The Twins (38-32) are playing some of their best baseball in years under the guidance of first-year skipper Paul Molitor and a new coaching staff. And the solid play on the field as translated to a loosey-goosey approach to the slog of an MLB season off of it.

Much of the credit for the relaxed nature is owed to the return of longtime Twin Torii Hunterwho initiated post-game dance parties in the clubhouse, which apparently features a fog machine and strobe lights, amid other celebratory bells and whistles. Even some of the coaches are getting involved in the revelry, as evidenced by the tweet Perkins posted about the Guardado prank video in which he mentions hitting coach Tom Brunansky got in on the dancing action.

“Not only did Bruno (hitting coach Tom Brunansky) dance last night, we made Guardado dance too,” Perkins tweeted.

Indeed they did.
