TV ratings for LCS games hold steady from 2009

Television ratings for baseball's league championship series games held steady from last year.

Major League Baseball said Sunday that the 12 games averaged 8.6 million viewers, up from 8.43 million last year. The 5.3 rating was the same.

San Francisco beat Philadelphia in the NLCS, which was televised on Fox, and Texas defeated the New York Yankees in the ALCS, which was broadcast on TBS. Both series went six games.

There were three LCS day games, up from two last year, when the Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels in six games and Philadelphia defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in five.

Prime-time games averaged 9.57 million viewers, up 7 percent from last year's 8.97 million.

MLB said overall viewership was the highest since 2007 and prime-time viewership the most since 2006.

The rating is the percentage of American homes with televisions tuned to a broadcast.
