Thome leaves game early with quad injury

Minnesota Twins designated hitter Jim Thome left Wednesday night's game against the Detroit Tigers with a leg injury.

Trevor Plouffe pinch-hit for Thome in the sixth inning, with the Twins losing 4-0.

The team later announced that Thome had a mild strain of his left quadriceps. His status is day-to-day.
