Reds RHP starter Jon Moscot has Tommy John surgery

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:37 p.m. ET

CINCINNATI (AP) Right-handed starter Jon Moscot had surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow, the second Cincinnati Reds player to have major surgery in two days.

The 24-year-old pitcher had two stints with the Reds this season, going 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA in five starts. He also spent two stints on the disabled list. He strained a strained muscle in his side, and he had soreness in his surgically repaired left shoulder, which he injured last season during a rundown.

Catcher Devin Mesoraco had surgery Monday on the right side of his hip, his third major surgery in a year. The former All-Star had surgery on his left hip last year and needed surgery early this season for a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
