Red Sox 3B Sandoval leaves game

Published Aug. 15, 2015 3:15 p.m. ET

BOSTON (AP) Third baseman Pablo Sandoval has left Boston's game against Seattle with a bruised right elbow.

Sandoval homered in his first at-bat, and then was hit by Felix Hernandez with his first pitch leading off the third.

Sandoval was attended to by a team trainer for a while, but stayed in the game. He was replaced by Josh Rutledge in the lineup at the beginning of the fourth.

Rutledge went into Saturday's game at second base and Brock Holt moved to third.
