Pirates' Jones, Milledge hurt, returns uncertain

Published Sep. 18, 2010 8:01 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielders Garrett Jones and Lastings Milledge are out with injuries, and their status for the remainder of the season is in doubt.

Jones has been the team's regular first baseman in recent weeks. He has an injured right shoulder and aggravated it this week. He has a history of shoulder trouble and says he couldn't lift his arm above the shoulder Saturday.

Jones leads the Pirates with 20 home runs and 77 RBIs.

Milledge says he might be out for the season with a strained left oblique. He hasn't played since Monday.

Manager John Russell says Milledge is pretty sore, and that the Pirates hope he can play again this year.
