Napoli enjoys porn stars, too, eh?

Jocks always have had their fair share of females around them. Sometimes these women are movie stars — if you're Derek Jeter. Sometimes, for the less discreet, they're porn stars.

Into those annals goes Mike Napoli of the Boston Red Sox, whose purported plans to "hang out" with porn star Rachel Starr on Tuesday night got broadcast to the universe by Ms. Starr herself.

And then there she was, watching the Giants host the Red Sox.

But apparently Nap never told her he wasn't starting due to a sore left foot.

He did take over at first in the eighth and grounded out in the ninth. The Sox lost 3-2 on a walk-off walk. Bummer. Wonder if Ms. Starr still was there, or had left to prepare for some therapy on Napoli's foot.

Oh, and you're welcome.

Napoli isn't married. And if you're wondering whether he has a girlfriend, there's actually a message board dedicated to it, where one of the rules is "Please report any comments that suggest the person is gay or had sex with anybody or has an STD." As you can see, vigilance on the Internet is as high as ever.

On Wednesday, as the sports world buzzed about it, even Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson weighed in on local radio. Asked if his players could date porn stars, Johnson replied "None of my guys could 'cause we can’t score." (The Nats are 27th in runs.)

Napoli isn't the first athlete to have his predilection for porn stars broadcast to the world. There have been some funny, embarrassing moments for athletes — like when college football recruit Elisha Shaw got caught looking at Isis Taylor's "performances."

Sometimes porn stars in the headlines make for relatively innocent fun, as when Andy San Dimas and her unicorn head invaded PNC Park. But sometimes these couplings make for unpleasant headlines. Most recently, MMA fighter War Machine said some disturbing things about porn star girlfriend Christy Mack that caused him to publicly apologize. And there was a major Twitter war against former fighter Tito Ortiz by ex-girlfriend and porn star Jenna Jameson. It wasn't pretty.

And of course the Grand Master of all the finaglers, Mr. Tiger Woods, y'all. He reportedly had a generous amount of porno vixens in his lecherous days. But these days he's keeping much more wholesome company: with Olympic darling Lindsey Vonn.
