Jarrod Parker to pitch for A's against Angels

Published Sep. 16, 2013 8:09 p.m. ET

Jarrod Parker is starting for the Oakland Athletics against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night, a day after the right-hander was a late scratch at Texas because of an illness.

Yoenis Cespedes also is back in the lineup after he was scratched Sunday because of a sore right shoulder. He's batting fourth and is the designated hitter.

Parker (11-6, 3.55 ERA) is 9-0 in his last 19 starts since a loss at Texas on May 22. The last A's pitcher with a longer unbeaten streak was Lefty Grove with 21 in a row in 1931.

Sonny Gray was set to start if Parker needed another day to rest. C.J. Wilson (16-6, 3.44 ERA) will start for the Angels.
