NEW YORK (AP) Yankees manager Joe Girardi has been ejected from a game against the Philadelphia Phillies after arguing a checked swing by Maikel Franco.
Ivan Nova, making his first major league appearance in 14 months after recovering from Tommy John surgery, led 2-0 Wednesday when he allowed two runners to reach with two outs in the third.
Franco, who had 10 RBIs in the first two games of the series, fell behind 0-2 in the count and checked his swing on the next pitch, which was in the dirt.
Girardi was ejected for arguing from the dugout, then came onto the field to argue with first base umpire Alan Porter. It was Girardi's second ejection this season and his 24th as Yankees manager.
