Cubs nearly douse David Ross in ammonia after 100th career HR
David Ross hit his 100th career home run on Friday night, which is a nice and good occasion for a player to celebrate.
And said celebration would've pretty short had his teammates gone through with their post-game cooler dump as planned.
Because, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat, Cubs players were about to dump a payload of icy victory on their catcher when they realized something smelled funny.
That's when they saw the bucket wasn't filled with water or Gatorade, but a bunch of ammonia.
Why didn't #Cubs Ross get doused during post-game TV interview? Because Szczur grabbed cooler filled with ammonia, not water or Gatorade

Yeah, that'll put the breaks on the fun real quick. Nothing says "Congrats on 100" like sluicing your man with ammonia water.
Fortunately, the Cubs realized their folly before executing, and no one had to run to a high school eye washing station. Ross remained dry, and the Cubs notched their 32nd win with a 6-2 thumping of the Phillies.
Dan is on Twitter. Good times in Chicago.
