DETROIT (AP) If Miguel Cabrera keeps winning MVP awards into the twilight of his career, his massive new contract will become even more lucrative.

In addition to $248 million in guaranteed salary from 2016-25, Cabrera can earn up to $4 million annually in award bonuses. That includes $2 million for each MVP he wins and $1 million for each Triple Crown. For 2014-15, his bonuses remain the same as they were in his previous deal.

Cabrera already was due $44 million over those two years, salaries incorporated into his record $292 million, 10-year contract. The agreement includes $30 million options for 2024 and 2025 that become guaranteed if Cabrera is among the top 10 in MVP voting the previous season.
