Braves' Joey Terdoslavich on game-winning HR: 'Coolest thing I've ever done'

Alanta Braves outfielder Joey Terdoslavich certainly picked a meaningful moment to hit his first major-league home run.

Terdoslavich has been up and down from the Braves' major-league club in the past three years, during which he had gone a prior 92 at-bats with hitting a long ball, but that all changed on Tuesday night in the Braves' tightly contested matchup against the San Diego Padres.

With no outs in the bottom of the eighth and the score tied, 5-5, Terdoslavich was called upon by manager Fredi Gonzalez to receive only his fourth at-bat of the season in a pinch-hitting appearance.

With a hitter's count in his favor, Terdoslavich jumped on the first strike he saw, a 95-mph fastball from reliever Joaquin Benoit, and bolted a line-drive shot into the bleachers in right-center field (watch here).

Jason Grilli then closed out the game for the Braves to secure only the team's second win in seven games.

Terdoslavich was reeling after the game.

"I told Shelby [Miller] it felt like the coolest thing that I've ever done. So, it was pretty special," the 26-year-old outfielder said, trying to contain his wide grin.

He then explained his approach to the key at-bat.

"I was just looking for a good pitch to hit, and then … when I got 2-0, I was looking for something to drive," Terdoslavich recalled, "and I got a fastball and put a good swing on it."
