Blue Jays designate Todd Redmond for assignment

TORONTO (AP) The Blue Jays have designated right-hander Todd Redmond for assignment to clear a roster spot for right-hander Scott Copeland, who was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo following Monday's 10-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Redmond was promoted from Triple-A to start Monday's game so that the Blue Jays could give their starting rotation an extra day of rest. He allowed three runs and four hits in four innings.

The Blue Jays are on the 12th day of a stretch of 20 games without a day off.

This is the second time this season that Toronto has designated Redmond for assignment. The four-year veteran has no record and an 11.88 ERA in three games.
