USC QB Cody Kessler wants Clay Helton to be hired as Trojans head coach
By Dan Lyons
USC is likely the top job in the ever-growing college football coaching carousel, but if the decision was left up to Trojans quarterback Cody Kessler, it would be an easy choice. He supports interim head coach Clay Helton having his interim tag removed.
Helton has been a part of the USC staff since 2010, as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator starting in 2013. Between the 2013 Las Vegas Bowl, and this year’s games after the firing of Steve Sarkisian, he is 3-1 as head coach. We expect the Trojans to entertain bigger names for the vacancy at the end of the season, but it is good that Helton has the support of his players.
