Texas Football: Complete 2017 Schedule

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 12:47 a.m. ET

A look at the complete 2017 football schedule for the Texas Longhorns.

On Tuesday, December 13, the Big 12 released their 2017 football schedule. This came a bit early, as the 2016 bowl season hasn’t even started yet. So, we got an early look at everyone who Texas will play next year, including the date of the Red River Rivalry game and the new Big 12 Championship game.

The schedule below, via FBSchedules.com, will be for Tom Herman’s first year as head coach. After firing Charlie Strong in late November, Texas would hire the now-former Houston boss, who will have lofty expectations as he heads into the new year. What will be his biggest test? Which three schools will he see in nonconference play?

The one nonconference game to note is on Saturday, September 16. This will be the rematch of the 2006 National Championship game against USC, which saw Texas win with the memorable Vince Young rushing touchdown within the final minute of the game. It’s the beginning of a two-year home-at-home series, so Texas will host the Trojans in 2018.

The game that everyone will circle is on October 14, as the Red River Rivalry game will take place with Oklahoma. This should be Texas’ first big conference game of the year before they battle a tough Oklahoma State team and the Baylor Bears, with new head coach Matt Rhule.

There’s still a long time before the 2017 season begins for Texas, but with their 2016 campaign already over, which part of next year are you looking forward to the most?
