Skai Moore Named SEC Defensive Player of the Week
Linebacker Skai Moore was simply sensational in the season opening victory over North Carolina.
The Florida native notched 10 tackles and had two interceptions for the Gamecocks. Moore's instinctual prowess was plainly evident on multiple occasions, as was his athleticism. He used his anticipatory skills to effectively snuff out plays at the line of scrimmage.
Moore also did a great job of reading UNC quarterback Marquise Williams' eyes, watching to see where the signal-caller was going with the football. His second interception late in the fourth quarter in the red-zone sealed the game for South Carolina.
The two picks gave Moore nine overall in his career. With the dearth of receiving options, maybe Steve Spurrier should trot Moore out at tight end?
